Bishop’s Bio


Bishop Warren Edwin Boyd

 is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana and a graduate of Shortridge High School.  He received his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Earlham College, Richmond, Indiana.  While at Earlham, he was a member of the basketball team, and served as team co-captain during his senior year.

Bishop Boyd is the son of Mother Ruby Boyd and the late Deacon Leo Boyd.  He and Leading Lady Waltnelle Armstrong Boyd have been married 37 years.  He is father of one daughter and three sons, the grandfather of ten, and spiritual father and mentor to countless others.

Bishop Boyd has been in the ministry of preaching and teaching the gospel since November 1988.  He has pastored the Original Church of God, “The Place of Blessing”, (2150 N. Capitol Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana) for 30 years.  Bishop Boyd has served in various positions in the Original Church of God National Body including General Overseer of the Holiness Young People’s Union (HYPU) Congress, and membership on the Bishop’s Cabinet.  He also served as the State Overseer of the Indiana and Western Ohio District.  His dynamic, spirit filled preaching and teaching has afforded him the opportunity to speak in many cities across the Midwest United States to people of all ages.  Bishop Boyd was ordained as the Presiding Prelate of the Original Church of God in August 2015, at the Annual Convocation in Nashville, TN.

Bishop Boyd has been employed by the State of Indiana for over 37 years.  Currently he works as a Policy Consultant in the Family and Social Services Administration.  In addition to his service to the Original Church of God, Bishop Boyd has formerly served on the Board of Directors of the Christ Christian Academy Charitable Trust, New Life Development Ministries, and the Youth Summit for Change.
